A modified BFKL equation with unitarity

چکیده

We propose a modified Balitskii-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov equation from the viewpoint of the resummation technique, which satisfies the unitarity bound. The idea is to relax the strong rapidity ordering and to restrict phase space for real gluon emissions in the evaluation of the BFKL kernel. It is found that the gluon distribution function rises as a power of the Bjorken variable x, and then saturates at x → 0. We estimate that the saturation begins to occur for x < 10.

The Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) approach for the cross sections at high energy √ s in perturbative QCD is briefly reviewed. The role of gluon Reggeization in the derivation of the BFKL equation and its compatibility with s-channel unitarity (“bootstrap”) are discussed.

Small-x evolution with Q dependence and unitarity

We propose a modified Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov equation from the viewpoint of the resummation technique, which contains an intrinsic dependence on momentum transfer Q, and satisfies the unitarity bound. The idea is to relax the strong rapidity ordering and to restrict phase space for real gluon emissions in the evaluation of the BFKL kernel. It is shown that the power-law rise of the gluon...

Diffusion into infra - red and unitarization of the BFKL pomeron

The BFKL pomeron in perturbative QCD is plagued by the lack of unitarity and diffusion into the infra-red region of gluon virtualities. These two problems are intimately related. We perform numerical studies of the evolution equation proposed by Balitsky and Kovchegov which unitarizes the BFKL pomeron. We show how diffusion into the infra-red region is suppressed due to the emergence of a satur...

(1) The three linear terms in this equation correspond to the well-known BFKL equation. This has solutions growing like exp(ωPY ) (with ωP = 4 log(2)ᾱ) and thus violating the unitarity bound Txy ≤ 1. The last term, taking into account the scattering on both dipoles, is important when the scattering becomes of order 1 and restores unitarity. To deal with (1), one usually adopts in the mean-field...

(1) is the LO BFKL equation, which describes the evolution of the multiplicity of the fixed size color dipoles with respect to the rapidity (energy) y. For the discussion below we introduce a short nota...
